The Solution registers the "<System.webServer>"-node as an EnsureChildNode. Upon undo-ing the modification, it will remove the entire node. In our case it would also remove UrlRewrite-configuration inside the node.

It's better to use the EnsureSectionNode for the "System.webServer"-node.

I downloaded the web configuration modification feature solution file, and tried to install like this:

stsadm -o addsolution -filename ManageConfigMods.wsp
stsadm -o deploysolution -name ManageConfigMods.wsp -immediate -allowGacDeployment

It seemed to work, and the link showed up in the Operations tab like it should, but when I click it (as a farm admin user), I get an Access Denied error page redirect.

Is there something special that has to be done to get it to work?

I have loaded details of a customer on a list and was able to load the data with out any problem using sharepoint list destination. We have a lookup column called customerid looking at customer list I just loaded . This lookup column is in a list, called Customer Main, so I am trying to load additional data for customer in this customer Main list which contains a lookup column called customerID. I was not able to load data into this cutsomerid column, whereas rest of the data is coming into sharepoint with out any problem. How should I load data into a lookup column. Please advise.

I've installed the toolbar manager on my company's sharepoint 2007 site and have been using it for a few months now. Functionality is as expected.

We began having some issues with the server which caused us to notice the following error message within central admin

The weird thing is that we never had a site 37171. Why was the solution trying to deploy to that site rather than the default IIS Server? The solution deployed correctly on our staging server.

Ah, I just saw the little comment on the homepage of the feature:

The feature adds a new web part to the gallery that you can place on any list/library view page. Once placed on the page, you can use the properties of the web part to show or hide menu items

That makes sense and works. Sorry, I completely overlooked it.

I installed the Toolbar manager feature, but don't know how to use it. The link to the website http://www.shillier.com doesn't really help me, I cannot find the article that is explaining the feature.

The ajax config feature sometimes throws up exception "Failed to apply a web.config modification to file 'configuration/system.web/pages". Though the feature fails to activate, it still creates all the config entries. Any idea why this exception occurs?

By default when a new webapp is created, it already has the node <pages enableSessionState="false" enableViewState="true" enableViewStateMac="true" validateRequest="false" pageParserFilterType="Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationRuntime.SPPageParserFilter, Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" asyncTimeout="7"/>. Is there a need to add this node again through the feature?

The fix http://features.codeplex.com/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=8353 didn't work for me.

I dig up that topic because j'ia the same error.

I have two quesitons:

1- if the nodes or lines already exist in the web.config files is what replaces it is or what does not add, or is what makes duplicates?

2- if the node does not exist, create it? I saw addNode, so I guess that create them. However, I have the error ""Failed to apply a web.config modification to file 'configuration/system.web/pages'. The specified node "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\23873\web.config" was not found in the web.config file"". Why I can not find this node?

I'm looking at the GlobalConfigFeature code and it appears that it is
applying the changes to all WebApplications in the Farm without regard
for the context in which the Feature is activated.
Is this the correct behavior?
